Hello! My name is Paras, and I am a junior at Whitney Young Magnet High School playing on the varsity chess team. I've been playing chess for 10 years, and through it, I have gained valuable experience in strategy and critical thinking skills.

 

My Mission: 

I strive to help underrepresented students engage in a game I love for many reasons.

Chess is an excellent skill for children to learn, as it can provide several benefits, including:

• Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Improving memory and concentration

• Encouraging creative and imaginative play, as kids develop new strategies to outmaneuver their opponents

• Teaching patience and perseverance, as chess is a slow and methodical game

• Promoting sportsmanship and fair play by requiring players to follow rules and respect their opponents
